The
City Clerk....
is an Officer of the City appointed by the Mayor, with the
concurrence of the Council. The duties of the Clerk are found in the Illinois
Compiled Statutes (ILCS) and also in the City of Danville, Code of Ordinances.
…preserves and maintains all official permanent records for the City, including
such documents as ordinances, resolutions, contracts and other documents
pertaining to the administration of the City of Danville; is the keeper of the
City Seal which is affixed to all official documents after the City Clerk
certifies and attests to official signatures; and attends all Council and
Oversight Committee meetings and records, maintains and preserves the Minutes of
each.
…is the Freedom of Information Officer for the City.
…by Statute is a Trustee of the Fire Pension Board and by Mayor appointment of
the Police Pension Board.
…issues licenses to a variety of businesses, including bulk sales licenses under
the “Fraudulent Sales Act” (815 ILCS 350).
…administers Oaths and Affirmations upon all lawful occasions.
