DANVILLE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MINUTES

January 3, 2008

A meeting of the Danville Planning and Zoning commission was held on Thursday
January 3, 2008, in the Community Room, 17 West Main Street, Danville, Illinois.

Chairman Ken Cunningham called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m.

Tracy Taylor made a motion to approve the minutes of the Dec 6, 2007 meeting; seconded by Mark Goodwin.

Chris Hanson opened discussion on the water tower planned for Old Ottawa Road.

Motion made to place a discussion item on the proposed development of a water tower on Old Ottawa Rd on the February agenda; and by public notice encourage all interested parties to attend. The general manager of Aqua Illinois and Tim Busby and other interested parties will be invited.

Other items of discussion included concerns about the number of recommendations that have been overturned by the City Council and the possibility of reviewing the comprehensive plan especially the North side of West Newell Rd on the Future Land Use Map.

Chris Milliken introduced and started the APA audio training presentation “Introduction to the Planning Commission”. This educational training program included a discussion of planning principles, the legal context of planning, and the role of the planning commission, commissioner ethics, and the conduct of meetings.

Announcement: The next educational workshop will be at noon Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the Community Room at the Robert E Jones Municipal building.
